The University of Brighton has launched a crowdfunding platform to help students raise money for independent projects and ideas.
1 October 2018
Springboard was developed in partnership with educational fundraising experts at Hubbub.net and will launch on 8 October, when the website will go live.
Students have the freedom to submit their own initiatives – whether it’s a creative project, equipment for a sports team or a research trip – as well as funding goals and timings.
For the first 50 successful projects, the university will match public donations up to £250.
Over the past five years, crowdfunding has helped more than 50 UK universities generate over £1.2 million in funding for student-focused projects.
Ruth Carpenter, Participation Giving Officer at the university, said: “We are extremely excited to be able to launch the digital fundraising platform Springboard.
“It’s a unique and creative way for students and staff to raise money for ideas. It’s engaging and students will gain a multitude of skills ready for their future employability.
“We can’t wait to see what students come up with to help reach their fundraising targets and achieve their goals.”
