The university welcomed six representatives from Donetsk National Technical University in Ukraine on a visit to share best practices in university governance, leadership and education reform and professional knowledge and practical expertise around engaging with business and communities.
26 January 2017
The visitors were shown the structure and functions of several university departments including meeting key members of academic and professional staff who are closely involved in the university’s partnership work.
Speaking about the visit Professor Tara Dean, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Research and Enterprise said: “It was a huge honour to welcome our guests from Donetsk National Technical University, one of the largest and oldest universities in Ukraine. Due to the armed conflict at the east of the country, which began in 2014, they had to relocate from the large city of Donetsk, to the small industrial town of Pokrovsk. At the moment the university is grappling with the challenges of adapting to working in a small town, whilst looking to establish close relations with the local community and authorities, as well as promoting cooperation with local businesses.
