The University of Brighton’s Director of Accommodation and Hospitality has been named as one of the country’s most influential people in public sector catering.

Julie Barker, Director of Hospitality and Accommodation, is among the top 20 “powerbrokers” listed this year by Cost Sector Catering, the magazine and website for the UK's foods service community.
Julie, also Managing Director of the Universities Caterers Organisation, is recognised for her years of contribution to the industry, working for sustainable catering, resource efficiency, waste and recycling.
Cost Sector Catering said: “She has also signed up local authorities, and food and drink retailers to commitments to reduce packaging and food waste, and to increased recycling.”
Julie has been named in the list for the past four years and in 2012 she was also named among the 100 most influential woman in the country in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism by People 1st, the sector skills council.
